While you're artwork is awesome, I to find it a little bit stylized, regarding the weapons.

Thanks! I tried to imagine how Mesoamerican culture would push the boundaries of what steel could do when it comes to creating weapons beyond just wood and stone.

I still think they would also maintain size and shape of tools and gear, regardless of what material they use to make it.

You should also do a picture of a firearm if they managed to create gunpowder!

I created an alternate history myself if they had invented gunpowder. See my journal :

pretty cool, and accurate as well because there is evidence that the ancient mayans had ways of smelting steel :)

Question, is the design on the upper part of the breastplate accurate to that of a Mayan mantle?

I'm borrowing various aspects from a variety of North American Native American cultures, and I was going to use either an Aztec or Mayan mantle, but accurate designs are hard to come by.

This is more of a 'fantasy' what-if piece. The design is all Mayan, but taken from rock sculptures, jewelry, etc... armor like this never existed due to them not having steel making technology. However, it shows what their armor might have looked like if they did.

...kay.

Though, I was looking specifically for mantle designs. I know one of those MezoAmerican cultures wore mantles, I just don't remember which one.

Absolutly, when I first saw the Predator movie I could see it. I hope you don't mind if I feature you work here [link] for discussion. I would love to see more of your Mayan armor concepts to add to it. Some of the artists in the Lair may be trying to design a concept for a Mayan inspired Bio helmet.
